I’m not sure if mods are a proper criteria when it comes to comparing Lemmy and Reddit. The audience is mostly the same and Lemmy doesn’t automatically make people/mods better or worse.

Also, you forgot one major point: API! I get to use and support my third party app of choice Sync here on Lemmy which was killed off by Reddit.

I switched to Notesnook recently. Would like to see a few improvements like note archiving, but other than that it’s been great.

They ran a 75% off sale recently and I snagged a subscription. It’s $10/yr if you’re a student, $50/yr otherwise.

Java is quite popular online due to all the mods and the videos people upload to YouTube using those mods, but I believe in terms of number of users, Bedrock outscores it quite a bit. The barrier to entry is lower – $7 on iOS/Android and most people have phones.

I’ve been making a post daily in !nytconnections@lemmy.world and !crossword@lemmy.world for 4 months now. Whatever small community we have there, I’m grateful for it. We’re also happy to accommodate many more people and grow.

If there isn’t a community for something you care about, make one. People will come.

Are you confusing debt with credit line/limit, or am I misunderstanding your comment?

If you are referring to debt, could you provide me with a source for your claim?

I linked to myfico.com in my previous comment which is run by FICO - the company behind the FICO score. I think they would know a thing or two about what affects your credit score.

That’s fair. It absolutely is a debt.

I just wanted to make sure that the 4chan OP wasn’t referring to debt as carrying a balance and paying interest. I know two people who were previously under this incorrect assumption and basically giving away money for free to their credit card companies.

By “arbitrarily take on debt for years”, are they referring to myth that you need to carry a balance on a credit card to help your credit score?

If you aren’t aware, that is very much incorrect. All you’re doing is lining the pockets of the credit card company. Pay your credit card statement in full each month and don’t carry a balance to avoid paying interest.

There are certain exceptions, but I’m considering them out of scope for this case.

I still keep my Hotmail/Yahoo/etc., but I’ve gotten my name as a domain and use that for professional communication.

It has catch-all support, so whether you send an email to hi@name.com or “XxX_360noscopegamer_xXx@name.com”, I still receive it.
