I moved to Lemmy over from reddit not because of content or better UI but because people behind reddit seems like jerks to me and i came to realization I’d rather use open source.
What i lack here is information e.g. programming communities in Lemmy are, well, dead. If left on Lemmy things that are “recommended” to me it’s sensational “news” that are aimed to spark woke vs others battle in discussion.

So what to make better ?

• to build what reddit has, I’d call it a content library and i don’t care if it’s done by bots or humans. For me the facts + discussion to ask question is super important.
• if searching for a topic outside of Lemmy> Lemmy doesn’t show up in search engine but reddit does. Some optimization needs to be done to get better score at search engines.
• let users to block instances and thus make de-federation to user’s decision.
• i think there needs to some kind of cross instance community, i don’t think having same kind of community in multiple instances with different content is good solution.

Nah it’s not, taking away people believe they can built something made most people dull factory workers and those who were extra regime supportive were put in the post to build something but they often didn’t have the abilities . It’s hard to put it into words but you couldn’t have just make startup with nee awesome idea because people in the posts would not let you unless it meant increasing quota.

I’d say that I’m rather anti communistic but one thing that has never happened in used-to-be communist country i have experience with is starvation.
Actually they solved starvation, built fcking appartments for everyone to live in and gave them to people for free. They also made sure every forgotten village had drinakble water, electricity , gas, shop, train station and bus stop.

Reason why people overthrown them was humans rights repression like taking away people’s businesses to make them state companies. It was not poor the living conditions (for the time).

Isn’t like half of MS ecosystem online only, even MS Office and Teams work via browser. Everything else works out of the box on my Linux Mint ( recommended for Windows to Linux switching users with super frindly forum ) And you can always dual boot.

Well at one point i lead bunch of those “workers” on real project and oh boy, in some cases, i would much rather have robots do it.

As for westerns, west is probably biggest propagator of helping poor countries and sending most humanitarian help out to these malnutritioned people of all nations around the globe. Aside from US westerners have solid social systems which is so good it attracts migrants from poor places in hundreds of thousands. So i dont see it as that bad in comparison to other parts of the world.

Nope you are taking that part out of context. I’m saying he killed because he wanted to kill/ make victims suffer. I never said his IQ was high. I put the pure sadistic nature of his actions in to the contrast of actions taken out of neccesity to survive when someone is desperate.

I compare his actions with serial killers and find them different from crimes out of poverty.

As for prevention, it could or maybe could not work.
Maybe he was simply of sadistic nature regardless of his IQ. We could say that every murder, every crime, any wrongdoing could have been prevented and take a blame for them all. It’s kinda true but also not.

This case is about killing people to murder them. In term of motive It’s more alongside the serial killers who enjoy their victims suffering , often have high IQ, seems totaly normal for neighbors and are otherwise living quite comfy life. While this dude was no living comfy, if he was despread with money, he could have steal it but killing randoms to make them “dead” is tottaly different thing than crime out of poverty.

Are you talking about the type of crime of murdering innocent peope because killer unjustly blames them or type of crime where hungry kid steals bread ? To me at least those those two are not the same category.
