The day I realized that we don’t even know how to treat each other was a wild day for me. My friend group has been complimenting and building up each other for a while now. It’s amazing the change you’ll see just by having one dude say to another, “Hey, nice shirt my guy!” or something similar.

We opened for a national band tonight so a bunch of my friends were there. After having done this for a few years then reading this thread, I’m amazed to see just how much positive masculinity we had going on. There were compliments, talking up guys to others outside of just being a wingman (there was at least one case of being a wingman, too), lots of bro hugs, and a lot of genuinely happy guys.

It’s a hard thing to get going, but I’m glad we started doing it.

I’ve got a mouth like a sailor who stubbed his toe, mostly because I used to be a sailor who stubbed his toe a lot. Between my foul mouth and my either overuse or utter absence of fucking commas depending on how drunk I am I don’t think I’ll ever be mistaken for an LLM.

But they’re much nicer about it.

It’s so strange, around here there’s no real difference between a bloody Mary and a bloody Caesar. I know what the difference really is but no one seems to give a shit at brunch.

However, folks around here are super proud of their micheladas. Everyone does the clamato juice with vodka, beer, and Tajin. But they all try to outdo each other with the other spices and presentation.

Other than my friend’s pitcher that I loved, the place that does the best micheladas in my opinion is Captain Tom’s. It’s the most mediocre seafood joint that is amazing when you’re getting over being fucked up. If I hadn’t been to Taqueria Ruby tonight to fix myself I’d definitely be there tomorrow morning trying to feel normal.

People who go into cooking generally enjoy getting to be creative. I love those insane creations that require load bearing anything (although I don’t think I’ve seen straws, usually it’s toothpicks, skewers, or pickle spears).

My absolute favorite wasn’t the tastiest but it was definitely the coolest. The guy made a pretty standard bacon jalapeno burger, added some house made barbecue sauce, cut it into pieces, skewered it, and served it as the garnish for a pitcher of micheladas.

Note: A michelada is kind of what you’d get if a bloody Mary went to Mexico on vacation and added beer and spices.

There’s a bar here with that aesthetic. They do serve ok burgers at slightly reasonable prices, but the secret is to become friends with the cooks. Then tell them that you don’t care what the upcharge is, but you want them to make you the burger they’d want and to have fun with it.

Now I can go in and say “Tell them TexasDrunk wants whatever burger they want to send out” and 9 out of 10 times I get a burger that’s delicious (and sometimes insane). Usually they just charge me the regular burger price.

I mean, also true, but that’s nationally. Each of our votes goes towards the 40 electoral college votes that Texas gets, and it’s winner take all. So internal to Texas, each vote counts individually towards our electrical votes. But that’s hard to explain. Hence well crafted apathy.

Misinformation is a hell of a drug. It’s hard to battle misinformation when the truth is so damn close to what they’re saying even when you know they’re wrong.

You’re doing good work and it’s a hell of an uphill battle. There are a lot of confidently incorrect people out there saying almost the same thing as you, but it’s just wrong enough to be fucking dangerous.

It depends on what they mean by affected. I say that lower voter turnout in Dem areas due to well crafted apathy counts as affected. Some people say that since everyone’s vote counts it’s not because they’re counting legal mechanisms as affected. Of course there are also some folks that just don’t understand and are wrong.

I get what you’re saying and I agree with what you’re attempting here. It affects it because we let it depress us and keep us from voting (not me, I’m in a white suburb and it’s super easy for me to vote a couple of weeks early).

Yep. It creates voter apathy in statewide races. Texas is in the top 10 lowest in voter turnout. A lot of liberal folks don’t vote due to gerrymandering and due to shit like the state meddling in Harris county and the small number of voting locations in big blue areas.

If BG4 ends up on the horizon and not 15 years out, I hope Larian licenses the engine. There are improvements that can be made but they did solve a lot of problems in bringing TTRPG to a video game.
