No. Well, not KDE. My laptop with Arch and Gnome is a rock. My gaming desktop with Arch and KDE Plasma is a glitchy, flickery, laggy, mess. I was just thinking about giving up and going back to Gnome last night. I can’t even do simple website development without both the ide and the browser constantly flickering and text input lagging. Ive done everything that the wiki says to do to fix Nvidia issues, but it still sucks. It’s frustrating because I was using Pop on this computer for 3 years without any issues at all. I switched to Arch a couple weeks ago and it’s been non-stop glitches.

Which they do. Quite often even. Shitty employers also employ shitty behaviors like consistently giving poor performance reviews regardless of actual performance. This gives them a paper trail to fire you on a whim, and it gives them an excuse to not give raises. “Just find a better job then!”. Unfortunately these types of companies prey on the disadvantaged who typically don’t have many options or the luxury of finding something better.

Kind of. USB-C to HDMI. I have a dongle for one HDMI port and that worked okay, but wouldn’t give me the proper resolution, so I bought a USB-C to HDMI cable. That, with a lot of tinkering, got me the proper ultra wide resolution, but I still haven’t been able to get a 2nd monitor working. Everything I read said that the M1 doesn’t support dual monitors. I just checked and it’s a 2020, not a 2019. My previous MacBook Pro was the 2019.

So, you’re saying that you got two external monitors working with a USB-C dock?

The 13" MacBook Pro with the M1 processor doesn’t support dual external monitors, I think it is a 2019, but I’m not positive. If you have a solution, then I’d love to hear it. I looked, and my coworkers looked, and we all came to the same conclusion that it’s not supported.

It sounds like your GFX card driver isn’t correct. Are you just using whatever installed automatically? If you’re using Nvidia then go install X Server and the proper driver for your card. If you’re using AMD then idk, you’ll have to figure that one out.

My surface pro just decided one day that all external monitors will only be mirrors of the primary display, and that they will be 800px, not 4k. Nothing I have tried has fixed it. I finally gave up and started using my much older Arch laptop for those purposes.

My MacBook pro wouldn’t work with my ultra wide resolution monitor and it took me hours to figure out how to force it to reveal the proper resolution option. It flat-out won’t work with dual monitors, no M1 CPU MacBook will.

But… I moved off Windows to get away from Windows subsystems.

I suppose at least one of them does. For reference though, I’m an arch user and have around 12.5% body fat.

This desperately needs to become an illegal industry. Perfectly legitimate businesses are letting their real business fall to the wayside as they convert their profits to a fucking consumer spying business. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of all the tracking, and I’m sick of ads popping up in new places all the freaking time. You go to pump gas and a commercial starts blaring in your face. You can’t escape it. You can’t get a moment of peace to sit with your thoughts. It’s negatively affecting our entire society, yet every business is pursuing it with zeal and the politicians aren’t doing jack shit to protect the people. Matter of fact the government is buying the data too. I never imagined this is what the future would look like when I was growing up.

What is the quick look function you’re referring to? Are you talking about command spacebar to quickly find stuff? You can do that in Pop with the super key.
