It needs to be illegal for a company to own a residential property outside of apartments, it needs to be illegal for a company to own apartments outside of the state it’s headquartered in, and it needs to be illegal for an individual to rent out more than one property. My older brother and his wife have had houses sniped from under them by landlords who can outbid them multiple times. They’re doomed to apartment life forever because of rent seeking bastards.

I think America already does enough to financially reward owners over renters.
Encouraging everyone to buy a home is not a good option given that renting is cheaper for people who need to change cities every ~6 years. And forcing low income people to stay in the same city prevents them from pursuing better opportunities.

when houses were 80k buying selling houses for moves was maybe less of a problem but its maybe more difficult now
