What responsibilities do publishers do to benefit the developers these days, with Steam available for self-publishing? Looking for an honest explanation, as I read some wiki pages and don’t really understand the value of publishers (same for book publishers).

This is ultimately what made me try out Betterbird. It has regex searching which imo every search box of every app should have as a basic feature. Plus it still has all the features Thunderbird has and even some that Thunderbird has removed in recent releases.
Np, I’d be interested to hear about other people’s experiences with it, good or bad.
It’s Thunderbird but with bugfixes and additional features. Bugfixes I like are being able to sort by attachment and minimize to my tray. Features I like are regex searching/filtering (including encrypted messages), opening to the same folder every time, being able to change message headers, being able to directly open links in messages I’m writing, maybe a few more I’m forgetting. Regex searching is the top used additional feature for me.
Since BB isn’t a hard fork of TB, it stays up to date with bugfixes and features that new TB versions include, and they often restore existing features that new TB releases break or remove (at least 4 in the last major release v115), and are open about breaking features in new versions (like IMAP folder corruption in both TB and BB v128.0 that they say they hope will be fixed in v128.3.0).
I’ve been using Betterbird for a good 6 months and it’s the best email client I’ve used, it’s what Thunderbird should be out of the box. With the Proton bridge app running in the background it integrates very well.
I got as far as seeing they chose Java and opening the constants file, and immediately executed a strategic withdrawal. I love that people went to this level of detail
I went for a walk at like 10pm in my hometown the first winter break I was home from college, just on the main two non-residential streets that downtown consists of, fully on the sidewalks with all the streetlights on. I got stopped and IDed and grilled by one cop who pulled over, and then called for another cop to come back him up. And they both were so angrily asking me question after question about why I was outside walking at night “suspiciously” I had no idea what was going on and asked, “why are you interrogating me for walking? Did someone just commit a crime and you’re trying to find them?” I really believed like an idiot they were acting in good faith, but one grabbed my forearm and asked me why I would ask something like that, had I just committed a crime? I was incredulous. They let me go on my way after like 20 minutes of that and told me “go for walks earlier.” I didn’t even think to get angry about it for a day or so while I was processing how lucky I felt to not be arrested, when I realized, arrested for what? I was just walking.
It’s been decades but every time a cop talks to me (pulled over for speeding), I think about that. Some of my family members are cops and I still know ACAB. When I mentioned it to one of them he tried to justify it with, “maybe he was having a bad day,” and told me, “you don’t know what you’re talking about,” when I told him how psychotic it sounded to justify someone taking out their bad day by bullying a random person who didn’t have the ability to leave the situation, and just had to “legally” be at their mercy.
It contains myristicin. Disclaimer up front that the best-case scenario is you don’t experience the trip and just get dry mouth and an upset stomach. It takes a lot of nutmeg, there’s a chance of poisoning since you likely won’t know the potency to begin with, and the Erowid vault is full of horrible experiences. Interesting to read though: https://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_Nutmeg.shtml
Zero rehabilitative potential, but they could basically do this now by putting a prisoner in restraints and sending them on a nutmeg trip. Guaranteed horror with a complete loss of time perception. If purgatory were real, it would be a nutmeg trip.
I’m pretty sure I’ve been to that internet cafe, and I’m pretty sure it’s in Thamel, Kathmandu. Still better than Spectrum.
I don’t hate the believer, I hate the beliefs. /s
Are you at a school known for its math or engineering offerings, teaching applied or theoretical students primarily? There’s quite a bit of variability between schools in US.
You run an Android device older than 12 years that is running Android 11? That’s pretty good, what device? I didn’t think they were designed with 8 years of OS forward compatibility (Android 11 released in 2020 and you mentioned it as the version you’re having issues with playing a game on).
It’s hard to find a therapist who meshes well with you and can help you make progress, but a busted Lenovo takes to Arch better than Saint Louis.

I like the way they made the sparkles look sparkly.
I filtered by local as you suggested and saw it pretty quickly. Thanks for the suggestion, that was a very interesting thread to read.
