Organic Maps (the app) lets you download maps of various areas ahead of time

I was also looking into this recently, and I think one of the limiting factors would be the storage and processing power you’d need to blur faces and license plates and then let everyone have access to millions of photos on demand.
The raccoons seem to agree with you
I don’t know about a distro, but it looks like they are still maintaining an HTPC app for windows, mac and linux. The linux one looks like it was last updated about 2 weeks ago
Claims held by raw food proponents include:
- That heating food above 104–118 °F (40–48 °C) degrades enzymes in raw food that aid digestion, when in fact enzymes in food play no significant role in the digestive process, prior to being digested themselves.
- That raw foods have higher nutrient values than foods that have been cooked, when in fact cooking affects nutrient contents variably – depending on the plant food and cooking method – and may actually increase availability of fat-based nutrients, such as vitamin E and beta-carotene.
- That foods cooked at high temperatures, especially meat, may contain harmful toxins, including trans fatty acids produced by heating oil, acrylamide produced by frying, advanced glycation end products (AGEs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Not all cooked food contains harmful chemicals, and a diet containing a mix of cooked and raw food is normal. According to the American Cancer Society, it is not clear as of 2019 whether acrylamide consumption affects the risk of cancer. Public health authorities recommend reducing consumption of overly cooked starchy foods or meats.
Health effects
A raw food diet is likely to impair the development of children and infants. Care is required in planning a raw vegan diet, especially for children, as there may not be enough vitamin B12, vitamin D, and calories for a growing child on a totally raw vegan diet.
Food poisoning is a health risk for all people eating raw foods, and increased demand for raw foods is associated with greater incidence of foodborne illness, especially for raw meat, fish, and shellfish. Outbreaks of gastroenteritis among consumers of raw and undercooked animal products (including smoked, pickled or dried animal products) are well-documented, and include raw meat, raw organ meat, raw fish (whether ocean-going or freshwater), shellfish, raw milk and products made from raw milk, and raw eggs.
One review stated that “Many raw foods are toxic and only become safe after they have been cooked. Some raw foods contain substances that destroy vitamins, interfere with digestive enzymes or damage the walls of the intestine. Raw meat can be contaminated with bacteria which would be destroyed by cooking; raw fish can contain substances that interfere with vitamin B1 (anti-thiaminases)”
I don’t speak for all of lemmy, but yeah I think I am going to hate on the raw food movement
Then why are you here, trying to start arguments?
If you’re in the US (as Obinice pointed out), type your zipcode in the box in the top left and you’ve got your hyper local forecast and any relevant warnings and watches. I don’t care for or want extra notifications, so that’s a bit of a blindspot for me.
Also, if you’re using firefox on android you can hit the 3 dots and “install” the zipcode specific forecast, which just gives you a shortcut to that page on your homescreen.
weather.gov works fine, thanks
Looking at the Food & Drink section, it doesn’t look like you can get much more than coffee and meat with monero, so I’m really not sure how you’re supposed to “be your own bank” by using it and still have access to food.
Alright, so monero is good for coffee, maple syrup, and meat bars (?!). I don’t currently eat a lot of any of those things, so I’m not sure how this will help me with my groceries.
Have you heard of D&D Beyond? It’s already a subscription service, I’m not sure D&D is in the best hands as it is.
Another big example is any web-browser that isn’t safari. That should be changing soon/recently (see here https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/25/24050478/apple-ios-17-4-browser-engines-eu) but that’s only because Apple was forced to.
I only used it to replay Kingdom Hearts a few years ago, but I never had any issues with it. And based on this video RPCS3 released yesterday, it looks like there are plenty of games that are very playable, by any definition.
However, PS3 architecture was so elaborate and unique that it remains next to impossible to emulate to this day
I’m no expert on the subject, but I happen to know that RPCS3 exists, and they claim ~70% of titles are playable today.
Seriously now, why don’t you provide some clearer evidence showing what SBI is doing and why it’s so bad? And why respond to my short summary of the video when @CileTheSane did a much more thorough breakdown?
We all know it’s because you don’t actually have any proof or solid reasoning for thinking these things, and you probably responded to me and not them because you’re too lazy to read their longer post and think up a lie. But Cile watched a half hour video because of you and put some thought and effort into applying it to your fake arguments, you could at least try to defend your bigoted views.
The first half of the video is about context-less tweets that a consultant for the company made a decade ago, and the second half is about how they don’t like how some things were phrased at a GDC talk. The guy in the video also talks a lot about Sweet Baby Inc supposedly wanting to exclude straight, white, male characters, but one of the anecdotes they play from the GDC conference was about how some game studio had made a cast of all straight, white men and were thinking of diversifying by making one of those characters very stereotypically french, and so SBI consultant tried to get a little more diversity out of them by also making that character black.
I’m not seeing a lot of hatred or discrimination against white people, or men, or heterosexuals in this video you linked.
But there is the end segment, in the last 3 minutes or so, where he doesn’t understand that there’s a difference between being a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion consulting firm, and a narrative/writing consulting firm that helps promote diversity and inclusion, so that’s fun. He also ends the video by saying that the consultant with the bad tweets from a decade ago is one of the company’s leaders.
All in all, not a lot of evidence that Sweet Baby Inc is doing anything wrong, really.
If the 4 hour long hbomberguy video is to be believed, the Angry Video Game Nerd channel (?) got bought by a company that turned it into something of a content mill. And there’s some plagiarism involved.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Skull and Bones (looks like it was removed from steam)
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - Remake Part 2 (PS5)
Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Switch)
Rise of the Ronin (PS5)
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake
Personally, I’m not really excited for any of these. But I have enough of a backlog as it is, so maybe that’s a good thing.
Then go away and live your life. Let the people who are angry and energized yell at companies to try and get better conditions for consumers.
