I pay for Premium for a few different reasons:

1. I don’t need to even think about fighting with ad block blockers.
2. I also get YouTube Music, so I no longer need to pay for Spotify.
3. Premium views pay creators more than regular views.

No idea, is Google Maps listed as being safe for kids? It even has a default built-in search option to find nearby bars.

Either way, they removed the app from the entire Play Store, not just from kids accounts, or family sharing. Google specifically has as a separate account type for kids, ostensibly for the exact scenario they seem to be claiming is the reason for the removal here.

That would mean EVERY map app would be in violation since those places exist and are indexed by all of them. Including Google Maps.

This is what I did after running consumer Linksys and ASUS routers, including with OpenWRT.

I moved to a Unifi setup and haven’t had any issues. I can manage it remotely if I need to, like another household member needs something changed or fixed. I’ve never had to restart it to fix an issue, it just works.

Easy upgrades without having to replace the entire setup and move settings over manually. Especially easy wireless upgrades, almost just plug and play replacing the old access point antenna.

And if you need just a small setup and you run a home server you can run the management software on there instead of something like their dedicated Cloud Key device.

Good. His story is complete. He should be involved at least tangentially in the world if we’re in a similar timeframe but otherwise it needs to focus on a new protagonist.

Weiters refusing to let completed character stories actually be finished in sequels is annoying. It’s a crutch indicative of poor writing. It happens in Hollywood all the time, and we get subpar sequels because of it. Games need to avoid that death spiral, they’re not as beholden to actor name recognition the same way Hollywood is. Voice actors often have a lot more range because they’re masters of manipulating their voice and the character model can look like whatever it needs to.

Because at that level it has nothing to do with the actual studio or people. It’s just numbers on a spreadsheet to a team of accountants moving columns around so the final spreadsheet every 3 months looks as good as possible.

Normally without a sale like this, they would maintain IP rights to sell or use later by whatever studio they wanted to use. The studios are a tool to make the product, nothing more.

It gets so annoying trying to explain just basic inflation to idiots saying minimum wage doesn’t need to be changed. Not to even get into actual increases since we’re producing so much more now than we used to.

For those that don’t understand… $1.00 in 1950 has the same value as $13.04 in 2024. So if we take the $0.75/hr minimum wage from 1950 and just calculate for inflation alone, we would be at $9.78 to have the same buying power. That assumes prices didn’t actually increase at all, just matching inflation. So anyone making minimum is making 26% less than they would have in 1955.

And that doesn’t take into account ANY increases in actual prices of products or basic necessities like food and housing, or education, beyond basic inflation. We all know that nothing has increased in price by only inflation over the last 70+ years. Basic necessity pricing has shot up way more than inflation in the past couple years alone.

And it’s nearly impossible to explain to those same people how a progressive tax structure works. No, you aren’t making less money overall just because a simple raise moves you into a higher tax bracket. There are certain situations that could, but you would have to have a very specific and strange portfolio for that to be the case. Something a regular average worker wouldn’t have.

You do realize that after a game ships, they’re still working on fixing bugs, adding new content post-release, right? That’s still development time. They don’t just send out a game and move on.

Well, some developers seem to, but not most, and definitely not the good ones.

Especially when they go out of their way to provide direct APKs to Android users who do not use Play Store.

They already had to make the APK for the Play Store, providing it directly doesn’t require extra dev work.

Of course. I’m not an idiot, clearly there are people affected.

But even if EVERY Helldivers 2 sale were affected, of the 1.85 BILLION estimated PC gamers in the world, we would be looking at around 0.6% people affected. It’s a tiny sliver, despite Helldivers having over 12 million sales (and that’s both PC and console).

The fact of the matter is this doesn’t mean shit in the grand scheme, and most people have likely never even heard of the game still even with the controversy. The industry is unfathomably massive and one game is tiny, even one with 12+ million sales.

All games like this have massive daily player drop offs a few months after release.

To be honest despite the publicity, most players don’t actually give a shit. Most players don’t read gaming news. And many players don’t care, either because they already have a PSN account, or they just don’t care about making another account to play the game.

I wouldn’t be surprised if over half the players had never even heard of the PSN controversy at all. The SteamDB player chart actually indicates when those shenanigans were compared to player numbers, and the daily player numbers had already been declining at that same pace for a month up to that point and continued at about the same rate after.

I never compared babies to abusers. I compared Stockholm Syndrome to the evolutionary mental and hormonal responses parents have for their progeny. They’re both unconscious mental responses brought on by an external stimulus. An inconvenient comparison of course, but simple.

Blood and Wine was exceptional. Much like Shadow of the Erdtree, there was enough content added that they could have almost justified releasing it as a full game. There are full games released today with less content than Blood and Wine brought to TW3.
