Does GIMP even scale with monitor ratios? That was a huge problem last time I tried it. It’s a 4k world out there.

My 2021 XPS 13" is quad core i7, 32gb of ram, 1tb nvme, 5k touch screen, running arch. 3-4 hours battery life. Nothing close to Apple but power in linux is always a crapshoot.

POP and IMAP are pretty much dead at this point. Email is basically dead at this point. Want to spin up a machine and have it email you system messages? Nope. Want to run a Python script that sends to gmail? lol. https://mailtrap.io/blog/gmail-smtp/

On all my microservers I have pretty much have 22, 80, and 443 open. I try to interact exclusively over web ports for as much as possible.

The advent of REST API endpoints really muddies everything up when all requests are going over the web.

On all the work servers I maintain we pretty much install anything that’s not in the base repo to /opt/

I wouldn’t hate the pixel treatment the FF games got. I am playing through FF1 and have the other 5 on tap. I played the intro to FF6 and the changes are a real QOL improvement.
