Have phones gotten any new exciting features in a while?
I remember enjoying upgrading my phone in the aughts and early tens, but it seems like most devices have plateaued and they’re all pretty much the same now.
The exception being foldables, but I’m not really sure that’s something I want or would use fully.

I dunno I think that’s a tad conspiratorial… lemmy is a pretty small audience upon which to launch state sponsored disinformation campaigns. It’s a far simpler explanation that it’s just some dork annoyed at bot comments, which makes sense tbh, it’s just easy to solve by blocking the bot.
I get it’s annoying to see a comment on almost every news article shared that contributes nothing to a conversation, but you can also just block the bot and be done with it.
I’m not sure why it’s enough of a bug bear to take even the short amount of time it took to make this image and post it.

I think the Dark Souls games have kinda earned an undue reputation for being unapproachably hard. They’re really not all that tricky once you learn that death isn’t a huge loss condition, just a step in the journey. I initially found them frustrating, but once I learned to not be bothered by dying and simply try again, I found an immense joy in exploring the worlds and challenges within.
Some bosses I beat first try, others will take me an afternoon or a few days to beat, but I have fun with it either way. Different strokes for different folks and all that, but I think Dark Souls and it’s like are good lessons on how to get over feeling bad about “losing” and just enjoy the game.
Plus, you can always explore areas to gather up whatever you need to level up and slowly get marginally stronger as you become more familiar with your character and tweak it to your liking.
The response that it’s too hard has been weird to me. I’m not very good at these sorts of games but it hasn’t been terribly tricky compared to other parts of the base game. And I’m having a lot of fun with it.
I do think the advice of taking advantage of the balancing mechanics they literally put in the DLC to make it challenging and help mitigate that is solid.

I’m not so sure I’d call myself a “tankie”, but I’d like a $12k new car and if it were an EV, even better. I recently paid more for a used car! Cars, like everything else, have gotten so stupidly expensive. It would have been nice to see one thing actually become more affordable because I know wages ain’t gonna increase accordingly for a long time.

Biden is an absolute piece of shit and I’m still gonna cast my vote for him. That said, with the electoral systems the way they are, my vote is utterly irrelevant. I live in a deep blue state. I could vote for anyone and it would be irrelevant, the electoral college for my state might as well vote now and be done with it. There’s not a snowflakes chance in hell for there to be a different outcome.
This just isn’t funny or interesting content, it’s just a bitter political opinion. Furthermore, it’s principled but impractical. There’s no large enough voting bloc of “MAGA agents LARPing as internet leftists” to move the needle on any federal election.

I’ve got a flagship Samsung device from 2020. The screen has cracked in an unimportant way on the front and over one of the camera housings on the back, but I can’t even tell which camera is affected by it, so I guess I didn’t need that one anyway.
Hate the camera bumps. Sucks that those became standard.

The Huawei devices look good and for a fair price, but I can’t even get them in the USA. So… I guess I keep this?
The foldable looks kinda useful for reading and in use with a stylus, but they’re so much money… and I bet that thing gets dust in it and scratches easily.
