Unfortunately 🤮
It definitely will work, I think you need to figure out how you would handle securing them for students, how are they going to log in with their AD usernames, how do you lock them down from messing with the system, how will you get them their shared drives if they have any, how to prevent them getting around vpn/proxy blocking etc. All this you’d normally do with group policy. I’m interested to see what you do.
Nmap can probably do this? Not 100% tho or if it’s even Foss just what I’ve used previously
This is what I do.
Even if it’s more than one device, assign one that’s reliable as the main, and proxy jump off that to the others. Can even do a dynamic tunnel and get http etc working with socks5.
Personally I would suggest getting an older intel i5 board on ebay in a bundle deal (mobo, CPU, RAM) and get a cheapish quadro also from ebay and just slap proxmox or Debian on it and do hardware transcoding. This would double as a NAS, You could easily set up NFS server or SMB/CIFS no problem. Then all you really are depending on in pci slots for an HBA, case size and PSU sata connectors.
Currently I have this setup with a 5th Gen I5 and 11 4tb hdds working great for about a year now…
How did you get planetside working? I thought the anticheat was not compatible with Linux
Tbf it’s like 8 bucks a TB for anyone else reading this with 500 gigs or more
This is what I do and I’ve wondered why people always shill for tailscale or cloud flare tunneling, seems like way too much extra bs for the same thing
I read that apparently if you don’t input a password for root that it apparently installs sudo. I might be wrong about this but could be worth a Google
Obvious ad???
Mikrotik hex are stupid cheap for the speed and features you get
Personally had a ton of issues with nfs and CIFS mounts in proxmox containers. I ended up mounting on the host and passing the directory through to the container.
Sorry my enters didn’t format correctly in connect… There were supposed to be breaks between products as well as the services!
