who’s y’all and what are they trying to convert you too? Are ‘they’ in the room with you right now?

Glad you aren’t addressing any of the critiques and just gonna continue living the meme. Also, you should learn that there’s a neat little feature called sorting, there’s a controversial selection that’s really handy for shit takes to pop up in the first few comments!

I’m most definitely looking at the complainers right now to see if they’re actually listening or have just been harping the same shit for a year and now trying to blame everyone else for the problem. We need to flush out this “woe is me” crap, as if people haven’t been wondering for decades how they’re going to be protected or how could democracy possibly survive in such a capitalistic and corrupt system.

D’s lost, I wanna get back on the field and train with new strategies and directions. There’s just a bunch of butt hurt locker boys who wanna complain about members of the team instead of learning to work together in a different way.

Oh no, mean spirited comments that don’t actually add anything useful!!

    This you?

BuT BiDeN nEeDs To EaRn My VoTe!

If we manage to avoid a fascist takeover, it will be in spite of the naive progressive idealogues who think they have the privilege to vote their conscience.

It’s… almost as if you do need to earn people’s votes after all. Everyone already spelled everything out to you almost a year ago on changes the Dems could make but still you’re wondering what Step 2 is?!?

Dems: We’ve tried nothing and are all out of ideas!, Third party, absolutely not!

  • I have loved ones that I very much care for that I have to do these mental dances with. Certain groups or cultures of people may have a bias towards only looking at scientific evidence that promotes their hypothesis, well established institutions can sometimes be “stuck in a rut” but I would include people like graham hancock in that group. Science is a beautiful thing though, new data and experiments doesn’t care what your belief structure is. Your germ theory is a beautiful example where thought was put into a hypothesis and was slowly formed over time with new evidence. Religious and spiritual aspects do not require this with belief. What was the last study done by a religious scholar that a deity exists? What was the last religious text that was changed due to discoveries or experiments that were done?

It’s important to realize that scientific study is a rigorous system and not everyone follows it to the best of their ability. Slamming a label on like “whether you accept and believe scientific discoveries remains a subjective choice” is not a valid statement.

The basic difference between objective and subjective information is that objective information is based on facts, while subjective information, or a subjective perspective, is based on opinion, emotion, or feelings.

The very fact that you’re using subjective choice to look at scientific data means you’re not actually following the scientific method (explains how something goes from hypothesis-theory-law). It’s ok to have a hypothesis that’s different from mainstream, it’s not ok to declare being subjugated because you aren’t following the method to show your data and claiming it must be a law.

If you’re going to dance around the science/spiritual circles you need to have proper respect for both parties when communicating directly (if you want everyone to understand what you’re talking about). One example is “Energy”, means two very different things when talking to an electrical engineer or a new age “star child”. The distinction needs to be made for sound scientific communication that doesn’t impede someones belief.

I highly suggest checking out “The Hidden Story That Defines Our Modern Era” from Like Stories of Old. This is a prime example of how you can bind modern communication and stepping into the religious/belief structures of our history while maintaining respect for everyone.

  • Lemmy’s kinda helped me see a different perspective. It’s just old man talk. Like, the internet is still there. Everything that once was, still is. Just a lot more shit the rest of everyone is usually using. Stop trying to keep up with everyone using all these popular sites for everyday life like they did with TV. Find obscure websites and dedicated forums for your topic. Don’t rely on Googletm to find the internet for you. Before, you actually had to find a site (magazines, social/network circles) then hope that site had a search function if you’re looking for something particular (this is the old internet everyone craves lol, it wasn’t perfect by any means/rose tinted glasses).

You can use the internet just like you did back in the day and have the same experience. It’s just that the majority of the world uses the connection for a “TV”-like feed with main popular sites and apps. There’s still more people using and improving the “old internet” compared to the 90’s, so it’s only a net positive in my book.

  • I unfortunately have the same feeling. Around Iphone 4 or so (when they were a lot smaller and sleeker) I got a slim phone case that could hold a card and my ID. It felt so nice going on a trip with only that in my pocket (not having to worry about if I feel my wallet in my back pocket, etc) but I couldn’t get over the fact that if I lost the phone I would be utterly screwed and a long way from home. Tend to always have a back-up now adays since I don’t want to have to put up with that.

  • The whole premise of the article? There’s 2 statements in the entire article that you’ve highlighted, a rather long and lengthy article about the development and history behind the game developer. Your statements of “what the article is saying” is completely false,

is pretending the sale is some runaway success in the west

    where does it say this?

article completely ignores the source of the sales volume

Article clearly states it’s sales, touches on the current chinese population use of steam, I’m not sure what you’re saying should be the “correct” thing that would satisfy you. Maybe you could provide an example?

The actual impact it’s going to have is much less on the development of AAA games by Chinese studios and much more as a demonstration of the Chinese market’s interest in single player games.

That’s a valid statement with a lot of factors (younger generations play more multiplayer). It wasn’t the scope of this article to break down consumer purchasing trends within a category (this thing is already long enough).

This seemed like a very milquetoast level style of an article highlighting the success and development of a game studio, I suppose everyone complains in the gaming industry now adays (myself included) so I’ll take your negativity more as a “gamer” thing than just hating on something not from the west. I’m rather glad to be exposed to news articles on here that aren’t NA eccentric that I’m always reading. Them not highlighting and differentiating themselves from the western market has seemed to gotten you into a hissy fit.

  • I always thought the “see something, say something” tag-line was creepy as fuck and don’t understand why everyone doesn’t get the same vibe. It’s common sense that if you see someone being harmed or in a harmful situation you speak up. But this is just a blanket “see something” which feels like a dog whistle for all the nosy and paranoid people to spy on everyone and it’s for the best. I guess we’ll have the same personalities in search algorithms going forward -_-

  • Yeah, but it’s not Youtube making the content I guess is my problem. Everyone is mostly here because of all the Reddit crap, doing the EXACT same thing google did to videos with youtube. No one here is completely fine with a "Reddit Premium Account!"tm I patron a few creators so I help with what I can, I will not join the youtube “member” additional fee. I also have been trying to branch out to creators that upload to multiple sites, it can be a little bit of a pain like figuring out Lemmy and how everything works but obviously it’s better than sticking with a company gouging and controlling content on their platform for profit.

  • Those sponsor spots absolutely blow my mind. They’re there, forever in the video no matter how times it’s viewed. That’s a lot of trust to have in an advertising relationship, both the creator (who is basically tattooing a person in a portrait they’re painting with an ad) and company have to determine if it’s enough compensation based on… feels I guess lol. I’m pretty sure there is some after data but how do you know which videos take off or not? Then if there’s any controversy, whole things a mess and I hope they get a lot for it.

  • Holy crap that game development sounds like it had a really tough time and brought upon by the inexperience like you said. Found some conversations with the co-founder after the game was cancelled

the game did not retain enough players to have any hope of becoming a business and it wasn’t a question of marketing - any money we spent on marketing would have been wasted…

it was not growing organically in alpha people would come in, and play for a bit, and then quit … i’m not even saying we needed high growth like, remember when the alpha launched we had something like 500-1000 people online the first several days … but 4 weeks later we were nowhere near 500-1000 the kind of business we bet the company on requires a game like, say, tf2, where its what, 9 years old or something and there’s still hundreds of thousands of players and it probably hasn’t had a single dollar of marketing spend

Absolutely crazy and absurd level of expectations lol. I imagine there wasn’t a single PR or marketing person in the company that could explain to them why. Seems like a lot of hubris which stopped them from finishing the development process and wanted immediate success and fandom.

    edit: words hard

  • Here’s a short animated Ted Talk about co-ops without CEO’s. Decisions can be decided by the workers, I think there’s some disconnect on what you’re imagining a CEO is. If you’re needing to make decisions everyday for the company to work… well you’re looking at something like Twitter which isn’t a stable company in a lot of ways. The video goes on to explain how co-ops operate and perform successfully through the centuries and a good starting point if you haven’t been introduced to the business model before.

Managers or “presidents” do exist, but the big difference is their role is to implement the decisions made by the group and does away with the usual power structure that influences and hurts the workers (usually through wage theft like the record bonuses CEO’s collect while making decisions for the share holders, not the consumers or employees).

Your response is a symptom of a much larger problem you have, misinformation and fear. You’ve presented a weird MSM scenario where everyone is a druggy. You’ve been disconnected from reality and have lost your way from being “stoic”.
