Yeah. Seems to work good on an older laptop I resurrected.
Nice. I’m running bodhi on an older i3 Asus. Works great. Have fun
Turbo tax, but the web option is available. I think handbrake doesn’t support hardware acceleration? I forget… this may not be accurate…
This is the real answer to everyone. Limit access to the Bluetooth connection or don’t use the headunit.
You can get a car, just don’t connect your phone to it.
I feel like there is a limitless supply of the people you are waiting to fade away.
I hate and love turbotax. Its affordable compared to a tax person and Im tyoically done in a few hours. Ugh.
The used market is going to be full of gas cars for a longtime. Look there of you need gas otherwise go electric if you can.
Yeah, really need traffic data with route alternative.
I ended up going with a synology Nas as i didn’t need high performance CPU and wanted a turn key solution. For what you get hardware wise, its low value, but if you factor in software and support, it works out to OK value.
You mentioned your parents will be using this. What services are you hoping to host? Outside network access is another rabbit hole.
Check the hardware requirements of the services you plan the host, but from what ir sounds like, you would likely be better served with decent pc 8th gen Intel with the storage in a 4 bay NAS or internal to the PC.
I suggested 8th gen Intel as a min for video transcoding (if needed)
Running on a synology, but it’s not cheap. I like having direct access to my stuff if I can. Next step is cloud backup of my local , i think borg or something is very popular.
I’m going to say that self hosting becomes a fun hobby once you get your core services running. Core in this case means the services that are bringing you into selfhosting.
I see how to do it from the viewer, but not a great experience.
Yeah also the site doesn’t seem to bring up the the keyboard on mobile. Which kills this as am alternative to google services… For now
This is what I’m using, it’s a little slow, but works fine enough
donate all the time, but the US tax system caps my donation deduction to 650… Is there some loop hole where i can actuallly deduct evetything i donate?
Edit: I see, i need to itemize…
I’m still transitioning to gmail from my hotmail accounts…
Also, now leaving a system running for months on end without windows updating on its own is possible.
