Yeah I wouldn’t. It’s not really the same kind of game ultimately, and the time investment you need to grasp it can be a lot, even for someone like me who played DOTA and shooters way too much.

If you can get into it though, it’s a real banger so far.

I don’t know if I’d go as far with my personal tastes, but I know for sure ds3 makes me stressed out. I think the combat system is far too fast and roll centric to be enjoyable to me. DS2 is just a nice adventure and sometimes I need that despite its flaws.

I recently replayed it. It’s kind of a weird one, but yes I’d say worth 5 bucks even as a window into the past.

The interrogation gameplay mechanics are a bit vague and difficult to understand exactly how to make the game do what you want, or even what you think the entire mechanic does, but to its credit it doesn’t usually give you a hard game over when you make mistakes. I failed an interrogation for example, but I got a few extra scenes of comedy that I didn’t see last time when I succeeded.

It pioneered facial capture in video games, but it’s out of sync with the rest of the body animation. Combine that with the low res textures and it’s a bit uncanny at times. Fascinating to see given where motion and facial capture is today though.

Little bit of everything I think. I personally have been getting tired of Microsoft pulling their shit, but without Valve making compatibility so simple for their launcher it would make it a much harder sell.

It is, but by god don’t grind your face against bosses that are too hard. I was having a bad time when I did three major bosses in a row, now I’m fucking around and exploring it’s much more enjoyable.

I’ve been doing the same thing, if the performance of a game feels like it could be better I slap that shit in there and it often drops GPU usage by at least half, it’s frankly ridiculous.

Though saying that most people have had harrowing huntsman spider encounters, often in bed. They’re the most common surprise as they actively move around to hunt prey, instead of building webs. They can’t really hurt humans, aside from hiding behind your sun visor in the car and scaring you half to death, like my girlfriend had last year. They are a non zero statistic in cause of car accidents unfortunately.

Tbh game prices are actually not too bad here. I don’t pirate games, steam etc are just too reasonable, and I don’t buy them that often.

I’m with you for the most part, but they aren’t a monopoly. The definition changes depending on who you ask, I’m going by the overwhelming market share + providing barriers to entry to competitors. They do debatably meet the market share, but I’d argue not the practices that bar the existence of competitors.

I feel like they’ve been very careful to not meet that second criteria and it’s been healthy to the games market as a whole. GoG has a different niche, humble bundle sells wholesale discounts, and every company has their own store, for better or worse.

Meanwhile epic gets on my nerves because it’s been throwing around exclusivity deals to their platform and throwing around free games, which are both tactics to try to undermine the others in the market. If they had the kind of userbase steam has, yes I’d say that would be a monopoly.

Ditto, and then you see people claiming they’re a monopoly despite not doing anything monopolistic, supporting other launchers in steam, and allowing keys purchased through other stores to activate on steam.

Not by itself I agree. I think there’s value in adding functionality that isn’t needed but would still be something you could do in the real world. Half life didn’t need functioning vending machines, but it adds a little layer that feels nice.
