The only time I’ve agreed with trolling was when that game about making games leaked a pirate version of their game, where no matter what you did after a couple days in-game pirates would pirate all your games and your studio would go bankrupt.

They gave pirates just enough for a demo, while making a point.

Are you talking about game dev tycoon? Ironic since the game is basically a copy of Kairosoft’s “Game Dev Story” with different art assets. The devs even admitted that they were heavily “”“inspired by”“” Kairosoft’s game, but the game is nearly 1:1.

I played both back then and saying it’s a copy is saying warcraft is a copy of red alert. Kairosoft had a lot more interesting details and the agency was different. Game dev story you’d have total control of what the game you made would come out with through the bars. Game dev also had the whole console/game history going on in a way that Kairosoft didn’t. Next you’re going to say the initial league of legends shouldn’t have happened because it’s Dota

The problem with making things you make free, is that people as a whole are terribly selfish and lazy. They will take anything free and claim them as their own. Individually, tons of people will respect the wishes of original creators, but it only takes 1 single person who doesn’t care who will ruin it. The problem is the Internet has billions of 1’s. You can ask please don’t copy my freely available thing all you want, but it’ll never happen. There will always be those that will repost as thier own. From ideas to assets, nothing is sacred when it comes to the masses.
